We are looking to recruit an experienced Hire Planner / Coordinator, specifically within our heavy construction plant haulage division. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing estimates and quotations for haulage requests, planning and coordinating the deployment of plant resources, and ensuring the efficient movement of plant, equipment and associated documentation.

A key part of this role is ensuring vehicles leave the depot safely and on time, monitoring service changes as they arise and managing customer expectations. You will also raise job requests on Sage, ensure completed works are correctly recorded for invoicing, and help maintain compliance with all regulations relating to LGV vehicle operations.

The role also includes the administration of operational resources, raising job instructions, processing returned job sheets and assisting with the validation and sign-off of weekly timesheets.

Effective and proactive communication with customers is essential to ensure exceptional service delivery and to meet the demanding requirements of our blue-chip clients.

The successful applicant will be supporting contracts across our existing client base, including Heathrow Airport Ltd, Greenshields, Charles Wilson and various other clients throughout London and Southern England.

  • Working hours of either 6:00am – 4:00pm or 7:00am – 5:00pm, depending on business requirements.

Requirements

  • Ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives are achieved.
  • Experience managing and directing planners within the business.
  • Good understanding of road haulage operations and the relevant transport legislation.
  • Basic knowledge of haulage vehicles and construction plant equipment.
  • Strong IT skills with the ability to use software and hardware systems effectively.
  • Commercially aware with strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Good understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental practices.
  • Current full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to obtain CRC clearance and a Heathrow Airside Pass is desirable.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience within construction plant and/or haulage operations.
  • Demonstrable operational and driver management experience.
  • CPCS Card.
